Specialism

Assisted Stretching

Ever feel like you need a really good stretch but can't quite get there on your own? With assisted stretching, I support and move you through different stretches, working within what feels comfortable for you. Think of it as getting that really good stretch, without having to do all the work yourself.

Included as part of a session, just mention it when you message to book.

Techniques I may use

IASTM / Gua Sha

Got a stubborn area that always seems to feel tight? I use a smooth tool alongside my hands to work over those areas, another technique I can bring into your massage when it feels useful. I'll always explain what I'm doing and check you're comfortable.

Cupping

Got an area that feels particularly tight? Cupping works a little differently to massage, the cups use suction to gently lift the skin and tissue underneath instead of pressing down. It can feel a little strange at first and may leave temporary round marks afterwards.

About

Kay-Anne, Sports Massage Therapist

I qualified in sports massage in 2018, combining my love of training with an interest in how the body moves and recovers.

I spent years working in corporate roles, so I know first-hand how long days at a desk can leave your neck, shoulders and back feeling tight. Our bodies are made to move, and sitting in one position all day can take its toll.

My treatments are practical and tailored to you, focused on how you're actually feeling that day, not a fixed routine.

Now based in Dorset, I offer sports and deep tissue massage alongside assisted stretching, cupping and IASTM.

First visit

What to expect

Before you arrive

Wear something comfortable you can move in. Leggings, shorts and a t-shirt work well. If you can, please remove any jewellery and tie back long hair before you arrive, it just makes treatment a little easier. Otherwise there's nothing special you need to do, just arrive on time so we can get started!

During your session

We'll talk through what's feeling tight, sore or restricted before we start. I'll check in with you throughout, and you can always ask for more or less pressure.

Afterwards

You may feel a little tender in the areas we've worked on, similar to after a workout. Staying hydrated helps, and I'll flag anything else specific to your session before you leave.

FAQ Questions people ask Tap to see the questions and answers

Where is The Recovery Bay?

Inside Supreme Fitness Centre on Blandford Road in Hamworthy, Poole (BH16 5BW). I’m there on Thursdays from 2pm to 10pm. There’s free parking right outside.

Is the room accessible?

The treatment room is upstairs and there’s no lift. If stairs are tricky for you, message me before booking and we’ll talk it through.

Do I need to be sporty?

Not at all. Plenty of people come in with a stiff back from the desk, tight shoulders, or legs that ache after a long week on their feet.

Does sports massage hurt?

It shouldn’t be more than you’re comfortable with. I check in on pressure throughout, and you can ask for more or less at any point. You might feel a bit tender afterwards, a bit like after a workout.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable you can move in. Leggings, shorts and a t-shirt work well. Please take off any jewellery and tie back long hair if you can.

Is assisted stretching included?

For now, yes. I can bring it into your massage as a taster, just mention it when you book.

How do I book?

Message me on WhatsApp, or use the enquiry form on this page. I’ll confirm the time, session length and price with you.

How do I pay?

On the day, by card, cash or bank transfer.

What if I need to cancel?

Free with 24 hours’ notice or more. Within 24 hours it’s 50% of the treatment fee, and a no-show is the full fee.

How often should I come?

It depends on you. Some people come every few weeks to stay on top of things, others when something starts to niggle. We can work out what makes sense at your first visit.

Can under 18s book?

Yes, with a parent or guardian’s consent, and they’ll need to be there for the appointment.
